OBSFERA / From first questions to a research plan.FOR SYSTEMATIC NATURE RESEARCH

From first questions to a research plan.

Practical answers for teams considering Obsfera.

Can anyone see our observations?

No. A research group is a private environment. Access to the public directory does not provide access to observations. The group controls membership and permissions.

Can we use our own data schema?

Yes. Groups can configure their own metadata and controlled lists. Map your protocol first, then pilot the fields, validation, exports and analysis.

Does everything work offline?

No. The field app supports local recording and later synchronisation for supported field operations. Administration and server calculations, including Analysis, require connectivity.

Is it suitable for flora?

The current project focuses on animal research. Flora, vegetation and habitat work is proposed here. Species registration, units and any quadrat model still need to be designed and evaluated.

Can students use it?

Universities and educational institutions can use Obsfera as a product in a configured group. Agree roles, supervision, privacy, cohort handover and retention before starting.

Is Follow part of the research database?

The proposed Follow design would be a separate publication layer. Only deliberately released content would reach the private follower portal.

What does an environment cost?

Current request information is on the existing group directory. Education, multiple projects and independent installations require specific agreements. This mock-up contains no binding price.

Can we keep using data for years?

Plan schema changes, exports, backups, recovery and ownership from the start. Continuity and retention require specific agreements for each installation and organisation.
